DON'T QUIT Poem

I remember growing up, and seeing this poem (in Spanish of course) in the kitchen. It was written on a tile, that was at that point, a little chipped and cracked. My mother refused to get rid of it, and sometimes during breakfast, she would point to it. It wasn't long before she picked it up and read it, asking us to remember the words. As an eight-year-old, I thought it was nice, but it wasn't till adulthood that the message finally resonated. Thanks mom for being the beautiful, wise being that you are.

So, here it is. Enjoy!

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about,

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don't give up though the pace seems slow--

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,

It seems to a faint and faltering man,

Often the struggler has given up,

When he might have captured the victor's cup,

And he learned too late when the night slipped down,

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far,

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--

It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Make Small Commitments. Get Big Changes. (nice!)

My Friend Aaron Darko shared this with me:

Make Small Commitments. Get Big Changes - By Michael Dalton Johnson
Real and permanent change doesn’t happen by simply resolving to do something. That’s not enough. True change is a slower process. It takes time and self-reflection.

This simple, yet profoundly powerful, advice can gently help you change your life and accelerate your personal growth.

Taking Care of You:
Drink plenty of water.

Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper.

Eat more fruits and vegetables and eat less that is manufactured in processing plants.

Avoid eating food that is handed to you through a window.

Live the 3 E’s — Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.

Play more games.

Read more books than you did in last year.

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

Sleep for 7 hours.

Take a 10-30 minute walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Your Outlook:
Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

Don’t have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

Don’t overdo. Keep your limits.

Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.

Dream more while you are awake.

Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind others of their past mistakes.

Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.

No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

Learn a new word every day.

Smile and laugh more.

You don’t have to win every argument.

Your Relationships:
Call your family often.

Each day give something good to others.

Forgive everyone for everything.

Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

Try to make at least three people smile each day.

What other people think of you is none of your business.

Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Your Life:
The worst promise you can break is one made to yourself.

Do the right thing!

Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

The best is yet to come.

When you awake alive in the morning, thank God for it.

Your Innermost Self is always happy. Follow it.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

Keep these rules handy and review them often. Follow them and small, almost imperceptible, changes will accumulate into something big. Your life will change.

2011! Hooray!

So after a long holiday hiatus from blogging - I'm back! And guess what?  Ready to announce the launch of my new ad-Venture by bringing Reality Manifest to life!!! I'm so thrilled. Here I hope to share my knowledge of health, nutrition, herbs, self-awareness, love, laughter and life in my attempt to make a difference in people's lives. My goal is to reach as many people as I possibly can take control of their health and realize that the body is truly a wondrous and unique temple. Plus, it's the only one we get, so we better begin taking excellent care of it now. Whether you are experiencing illness, need a boost in health, or would simply like to know ways in which you can be extra good to yourself (in every way) this is the place for you!  Come explore what I am offering, join me in one event (local or virtual), and allow me to guide you in your transformational process.

My core belief is that the body is often the part of the mind-body-trilogy that gets the most abuse. Most of it is unintentional, because we are not given a manual on how to operate it and are often misinformed of the proper ways toward nutrition and health. So we eat what we are told to eat (processed, fatty, unnatural, unhealthy) without much questioning. Then we become sickly, to the point of needing medication just to get through the day. The dollars spent each year on prescription medication is in the BILLIONS. Outrageous if you ask me.

But there is light, I assure you :) and it comes in the way of natural foods. You are what you eat? INDEED. I also believe that food has consciousness, so eating living foods (fruits and veggies), makes you lively. But that's just the tip of the iceberg! Visit Reality Manifest to find out more about what you can do now to begin the shift to better, more vibrant health. Here's to your well being!

Love & Light,
Erika
