Tapping into your Source

Do you know where you come from? How do you answer a question like that? Is it your parents? Your hometown? Your birthplace? Or is it something deeper? What is your truth?

Recently, while meditating, I faced a lot of fears and defied the thought patterns that I thought defined me.  Old stories of past relationships, romantic and non, negative, self-defeating, pessimistic approaches about where to go seemed to continue to pop up. "These thoughts are not helping me progress. This is why I feel stagnant!" I had to figure out ways to simplify and clear out clutter in my head. Revisited many times what the problem was, and it dawned on me: I was either focusing on the past or on the future. I was either reliving and identifying with the unsuccessful, hurtful past or worrying and stressing out about a future that hasn't happened to the point where trying seemed futile. It was mentally, emotionally and spiritually draining!

Why was I doing that to myself? Old patterns are hard to break. Once we believe that we are one thing or the other, we tend to stick to it. Unfortunately, that only leads to frustration and creates separation, not only within yourself, but all around you as well. And nothing like that could be your ultimate Truth.

My solution: Focus on THE NOW. The "NOW" is a reoccurring concept in my blog and my philosophy.  It is simply reminding the chatter in my brain that judging others is not acceptable, because everyone is just like you and trying to figure out what to make of everything, where to go, and what to do with the tools given and to the best of our knowledge. We must also not worry about a future that will  happen no matter what we do or not do. We can, however, take one step at a time in the present moment to become better people. What's the best way of doing that? By remembering that you are LOVE. You come from Love. And the Universe is the Mother and Father of everything that we know, and everything that we are. A love, that, like the sun, is ever present and eternal (at least in the way that we understand the material world). I read an "ONLY LOVE IS REAL" bumper sticker right after my realization, and all I could do was nod and smile and understand that it was confirmation that I was on the right path.

So, I'll trust that, and keep expanding from that place of peace that I found in my heart.

Wishing for you to recognize the Divinity within yourself.

Many blessings,
Erika
